Next to material and fuel irradiation, irradiation of certain isotopes is crucial in todays medicine. Radioisotopes are used in hospitals mainly for medical imaging and cancer treatment. These days, our BR2 reactor, provides these radioisotopes. When this facility is retired, we need an alternative to keep up the production of these life-saving products.
