LIDAR

 spal lidar

One of the requirements of the windowless design is the level control of the target's free surface. This level adjusts itself in the equilibrium between nozzle inlet and outlet flow and needs to be controlled because it forms the upper boundary of the spallation source. Existing LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) technology, that uses the time of flight (TOF) of laser light travelling from transmitter to receiver as an indication of the traversed distance, will be extrapolated to reach MYRRHA specific requirements.

As part of the MYRRHA LIDAR development, measurements of the reflectivity of a turbulent PbBi surface will be performed using the WebExpIr LBE loop.
