The inner reactor vessel and the outer (safety) vessel are hanging vessels with elliptical bottoms and are supported at the top. The reactor cover is a thick construction between 1 and 2 meter. The cover bears the components of the primary system inserted into it and it provides efficient neutron shielding for the structures located above the vessel. The cover contains the same number of penetrations as the diaphragm. It will be built like a box, with tubes (the penetrations) welded into it. The box can then be filled by plates of whichever material or water. |
