Robotics - Requirements

The overall constraints require that the remote handling system concept:

  • should be capable of performing all maintenance tasks on the MYRRHA machine during its entire 30 year lifetime without manual intervention to the MYRRHA Hall;
  • has the capability to perform a wide range of dexterous tasks, coupled with the ability to handle heavy loads under predominantly vertical lifts;
  • must also be adaptable and flexible enough to be able to undertake complex inspection, recovery and other as yet undefined tasks;
  • and is integrated with a the layout of the MYRRHA hall and the associated support facilities for waste packaging, system assembly and commissioning, active workshop, health physics, control rooms and personnel and equipment access routes.
